Old Jogger

joggerjIn early April the sculpture named ‘Jogger’ by Johanna Klein-Schreuder was put on display in the garden. It has been made with a special technique.

The process starts with the small figure in wax which was sculpted by Johanna. This small man is three-dimensionally scanned and afterwards increased in size by the computer. The 3D computer scan is then divided into some twenty parts which are automatically cut out of large blocks of styrofoam. Thereafter the foam parts are glued together and reinforced with iron tubes.

The rough statue is now ready. Details have to be adjusted by hand.

Finally the surface is sealed with colourless acrylic. Over this a second  layer of acrylic is applied which when still soft is covered with pulverized synthetic marble.
